8. Out Of Time
A Fenomena double header after Clockwork Wumpa, Out Of Time provides another brilliant track for racers to sink their teeth into. While it features a big clock face at its centre, it’s far less mechanical than Clockwork Wumpa and instead has much rougher, more natural obstacles.
Dingo Canyon is a pretty popular track, but it can seem a bit plain when compared to some of Crash Team Racing’s other offerings. Out Of Time is Dingo Canyon on crack.
The dirt road here is much more punishing, the turns tighter, and while you can afford to miss the speed boosts in the Canyon, do it on Out Of Time and you’ll end up stuck in a quicksand quagmire.
It’s most interesting though because it can punish typical behaviour. Drift boost around the corner? Sand worms are going to eat you. Jump boost off the final ramp? Smash kart-first into a windmill. You need to know this beast inside out before you can have a hope of winning on it.
In Nitro Kart, this was the home track of Big Norm, but in Nitro Fueled it’s been reassigned to N Tropy, possibly to indicate just how challenging it can be.
