Polar can be quite difficult to steer in the main series games, so his categorisation as a handling expert initially seems a little off. However, considering his cuddly appearance makes him quite welcoming to newcomers, you can see why the game opted for this.

Despite featuring in way more levels than Pura, Polar was typically the less popular in the ‘90s era as he lacked a bit of personality. With the new CTR: NF animations, he’s much more well rounded.

Not quite enough to knock Pura off the top of the cuddliest championship standings, but he ran it very close. Pura finishes one ahead in ninth (spoiler, I guess), but you can think of them both as tied if that makes things any easier.

The two bears are the only ones of the original eight to finish outside the top eight, but that’s a commentary on their category more than anything else. They should be popular with beginners, but there’s pretty much no way these two can unlock the other characters without an expert player drifting with sacred fire.

A good set of training wheel characters though, and many players will be thankful at not being thrown in at the deep end.
