Crash Team Racing PS1: Ranking EVERY Racer From Worst To Best
11. Ripper Roo
Unlocking and then playing as the main storyline bosses was honestly not that big a draw in the original Crash Team Racing. With Adventure Mode locking you into your first choice and the bosses all coming with standard stats, most players stuck with what they knew.
Ripper Roo is the last traditional boss here, meaning they all fall outside of the top ten. Actually in the game itself, Ripper Roo is the first one you encounter. His underwater track is vaguely related to his boss battle in Crash 2, which sees him living under a waterfall, but... meh. It feels like they could have done more with the psychotic theme.
While his track might not be bursting with personality, at least he is himself. Wonderfully energetic, Ripper Roo bounces all over the place. He'd likely be higher if he wasn't so slow, which massively undercuts his manic ways.
He's a good introduction to the boss battles, guiding you through how they work while not being so frustrating as to form any serious roadblock. A fun character to pick up and play as, though he's not really a long haul sort of guy.
