4. No Real Detail On Side Quests
The reason we know the Animals get more diverse as things go on is because quest director Matheusz Tomaszkiewicz said as much when pressed on the topic. He promised that the Animals would return throughout the game, in diverse ways, with nuanced goals, through a range of circumstances.
However, the details on these ways, goals and circumstances were slim to nonexistent.
How much you care about any potential racial insensitivity doesn’t matter here: the lack of details and the gameplay so far are combining for some fairly paint by numbers quests.
One of the best things about The Witcher 3, the game that boosted CDPR into the stratosphere, was the depth and variety of side quests. The general story was good, but it was in smaller, character moments where the game really shined.
Aside from the excitement of Keanu Reeves at E3, Cyberpunk hasn’t really connected us with any character yet. Obviously, these links take time in game to build up, so it’s natural that we aren’t forming deep bonds when the game’s still over a year away. To be honest though, Johnny Silverhands is just trading on being Keanu, so it’s a little disappointing none of the rest have had any impact.
