Considering that Cyberpunk is set in a dystopian future rife with cyberware of every kind, hacking is a skill that can be incredibly useful depending on your character build.

The ability is very much linked to your 'technical' attribute score which means that the more points you dedicate to the skill and the more you practice, the better your hacking options will become.

There are essentially 2 different types of hacking that you'll experience in Cyberpunk. The first is the typical gameplay feature where you might have to plug yourself into an interface of sorts to upload some or other nefarious programming by completing a mini-game. And although this isn't exactly new, it's a concept that has been proven to work quite well.

It's the second form of hacking that has the majority of players excited though, as it consists of the scanning your environment to pinpoint various items and enemies that you are able to interact with.

Depending on your skill you might be able to overheat an enemy's cyberware, causing them thermal damage over time; or distract the enemy by causing his communications unit to act up, making an assassination much easier.
