Cyberpunk 2077 - 8 Major Worries We Can't Shake
1. The Amount Of Patches & Overhauls The Witcher 3 Needed
As if it needed spelling out yet again: I adore CD Projekt RED. I think they've deftly taken Bethesda's RPG crown, and The Witcher 3 is one of the most recommendable and essential RPGs of all time.
... But it didn't start out as that.
Whilst I could get on board with Geralt's movement and the inventory/UI systems as they were at launch, Wild Hunt was subject to a staggering amount of meaningful patches across its first few months. All-told there were 26 of them, ranging from fixing bugs, glitches and quest roadblocks to changing things like how Geralt controlled and completely overhauling the game's inventory and pause menus.
Many of these were sizeable changes, and while I applaud CDPR for responding so quickly and optimising their product based on immediate consumer feedback, it doesn't give much hope to the launch day version of Cyberpunk 2077.
If CDPR somewhat struggled to get The Witcher 3 into the state it is now - after two prior instalments, no less - does an all-new sci-fi game in a completely different genre stand a chance?
