Cyberpunk 2077 Has A Hype Problem
Harsh Headlines & Cut Content
Aside from story and lore issues, many were quick to reference several other announcements, focusing on negative aspects rather than their justifications.
For example, the functioning wardrobe feature that was shown off in 2018 is now absent from the game. That, combined with the news that wall-running using the mantis blades was also cut due to technical reasons, was enough to cause some notable ill will.
Which brings us to one of the more recent and potentially most skewed pieces of information: That Cyberpunk 2077 will be shorter than The Witcher 3.
This tiny quote taken from one of the post-Night City Wire shows was suddenly the talk of the town.
In reality, Senior Quest Designer Patrick K. Mills pointed out that not many people actually completed the main story of The Witcher 3. Because of this, the team attempted to find a more accessible route. This resulted in the game being slightly shorter, but all other evidence points towards Cyberpunk being packed full of extra content outside of the main campaign - not to mention replayability based on character build and narrative branching.
CD Projekt Red tries its best by showing off its Night City Wire episodes every now and again, but is that enough to keep the core fanbase engaged?
