Cyberpunk 2077 REVIEW - 6 Ups & 2 Downs

3. Choices Are Meaningful

Every style of play is catered for, and the game rewards patient planning as much as it does balls to the wall brawling. There's enough granular customization at play that no two characters will feel the same and that's truly impressive.

In fact, it's hard NOT to be impressed by what Cyberpunk has to offer, as outside of its approach to combat is a robust dialogue system, which means it's as easy to talk your way out of a fight as it is to start one.

And man is this dialogue deep - to the point it feels like the William Gibson's Neuromancer book has come to life.

Only the most hardcore of hardcore sci-fi fans will understand every term used, and I found myself flicking through definitions to even get a grasp at some of the situations. Still, each line of dialogue is delivered so convincingly by the voice cast that it's utterly astounding how natural they make it all sound.

Your choices directly affect main missions, to the point I instantly reloaded saves to see how things would have turned out, had I gone a different route.

Trade deal going south? Why not pull a gun and make your intentions known? Feel like someone's about to betray you? Why not hack their systems so that big turncoat moment turns into a complete and utter failure?

I walked away from so many mainline missions asking "was that meant to happen? How did I even get to this point??" loving every minute of it.

Jules Gill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
