1. Achievement
Perhaps the biggest reason to be excited about the latest Dark Souls release is the sheer sense of achievement that you can receive simply by playing the game. No other game has ever given me such a sense of satisfaction upon simply progressing from one area, killing a batch of small enemies or reaching the next Bonfire (Effectively checkpoints, for the uninitiated, whose use revives most enemies). The reason gamers clamour for the difficulty of a Dark Souls sequel to remain at its highly challenging level is because of the risk and reward strategy that it evokes. Simply rushing into a fight will ultimately lead to your death and so many battles become a strategic affair, which often leads to the same outcome of death anyway, but when you do succeed, and you will, you will feel so relieved and so ecstatic that you cannot wait to reach the next area and experience the same feelings all over again. This feeling of elation and the determination that it will breed within you is unparalleled in a culture where many games are just becoming easier and if that isn't cause for excitement, I don't know what is! So, why are you excited about Dark Souls 2? Did I miss anything? Or is there anything you really hope doesn't make it into the final game? Let me know in the comments below!
