Dark Souls 2: 10 Reasons You Should Be Excited

2. Bosses

Picture 9 The biggest draw to exploring the treacherous terrains of Dark Souls is the various bosses you would meet, get killed by various times, then eventually overcome. One intriguing aspect is how many gamers have struggled with certain bosses whilst breezing past those that others are stuck on without a passing thought. I, for one, found my biggest challenge early on in the adventure when I came up against the fire-breathing, axe-tailed Bell Gargoyles on the church roof. I died countless times and refused to summon help simply because I knew I would eventually overcome them by myself. However, when I came across the Capra Demon, a kind of humanoid, goat-headed boss that some have told me they struggled with, I killed him first time with little trouble at all. This is partly down to the open route you can take through the game's many areas, but also down to the fact that your character build and favoured weapons genuinely create a big difference when facing a variety of different enemies. In fact, many of the bosses had such a large impact on me that I voted my best gaming moment of the year as the moment that I finally triumphed over Ornstein and Smough, a pair of bosses that you fight at the same time. When you defeat one of them, the other will take on their attributes and become even more difficult to kill, making it one of the most frustrating experiences in gaming (almost akin to taking a blue shell on the home straight in Mario Kart), but also one of the most rewarding which leads me onto...
