To give them their full title, Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough are undoubtedly the most feared bosses in Dark Souls. Obviously, the thing that makes this fight so much harder than many of the others is the fact that you have to deal with two incredibly difficult opponents at the same time.

Even when you manage to beat one of the pairing, the other one then absorbs their power and becomes even stronger, as well as getting all their health back. Ornstein is exceptionally fast and uses a lot of lightning attacks and spear lunges, while Smough is a little slower but packs a mighty punch with his enormous hammer.

It can be so hard to beat these bosses as they can easily corner you or trap you in a pincer, and finding a safe spot to drink some Estus is exceptionally difficult. Most players agree that Ornstein is a little tougher than Smough, so it's best to kill him first. Smough is slower, giving you more time to heal up and dodge in the second stage of the battle.
