Dark Souls: Top 8 Boss Fights
1. Ornstein and Smough
So here's my number one boss fight for Dark Souls. Ornstein and Smough. These two nerds provide arguably the hardest boss fight during your first playthrough. You've got two strong enemies with fighting styles that complement each other basically trying to tear you down. It's a daunting battle that has caused many to rage. I know I said this list wasn't made with difficulty purely in mind, and it isn't, because whilst this fight is hard, it's also very fun. For starters, like I said, you've got two different opponents with different abilities you have to contend with (unlike the Four Kings). They both constantly chase you down in a relatively mid-small area (small for fighting two opponents; again the Four Kings sometimes don't chase). There is also battle progression in this fight, which basically means things change during the battle. After you defeat one opponent, the other absorbs the downed ally and becomes bigger and stronger, changing the flow of battle. Not many boss fights in Dark Souls have battle progression, which makes this fight even more special. The background music is also just plain awesome. The best boss theme in the game period! These guys are hard. They hit hard and don't allow much time for healing. They don't have much if any atmosphere to them, although they are technically guarding something/someone. Nevertheless, a fun fight is a fun fight. You have to be really patient, but the end reward of having beaten a very tough boss is worth it. _______ Here's hoping the Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition brings more bosses in the veins of those listed here.
