7. Graphical Upgrade
So far, videos of
Dead Or Alive 5 gameplay have shown that the graphics will be great. Part of this has to due with the more realistic approach that
Team NINJA has taken to developing the game. This is most obvious when looking at the
DOA 5 characters, as they no longer have doll-like faces, instead having more realistic looks. The characters even start to look dirtier the more they fight and get hit. Fanservice is pretty normal nowadays in fighting games too, but the
Dead Or Alive series is renowned for it. This is likely because of the graphical aesthetics that tend to accompany the
DOA games that exaggerate the fanservice (although the level of fanservice in other fighters certainly is on the rise too). Nevertheless,
Dead Or Alive 5 is still looking to please fans with plenty of eye candy in the game. I'm not just talking about the characters either. Yes, the female cast in
Dead Or Alive 5 are very curvy and beautiful (although the male cast are no slouch either), but I'm also referring to the fighting arenas. The same graphical detail that has gone into the characters seems to have transferred onto the arenas too. Lush environments and hectic backdrops all add to the atmosphere of the game. That said, most will still talk about the characters. It may disappoint some that full character customization is not present in the game, but at least there will be a selection of great attire to choose for each character accompanied by simple items like glasses or work helmets to add as you please. It's not full customization, but the attires and items do feel like they add more personality to the characters. Heck, from previously seen videos, it looks like most headgear can be knocked off during fights too!
