Dead Rising 3 Review: 7 Reasons It's The First Must Own Next Generation Title

5. It Also Retains Its Identity!?

Releases19 Deadrising Dead Rising 3 isn€™t oblivious to what originally endeared fans of the zombie massacring antics. It€™s admittedly a darker game €“ both in tone and color- but is still one completely absurd ride from beginning to end. If you feel like barreling into dramatic scenes dressed up with a shark head and in your underwear, knock yourself out. There is a vast variety of clothing items to try on that range from more applicable apparel, woman€™s clothing, comedic touches, and more. The weaponry is also as diverse as ever, still centered on the idea of finding physical use for the most ludicrous of objects including microwaves, laptops, HDTVs, you name it. Crafting has been expanded heavily though, and allows you to further upgrade your combo weapons into even deadlier tools of destruction. Some of the combinations are unbelievably zany and make for the most ridiculously satisfying concoctions; like an electric staff that is nothing more than a street light fused with an amplifier. It makes for the most surreal equivalent in gaming history to playing as Gandalf, as you plunge it into the ground and watch 50+ zombies fry. No Dead Rising installment would be complete without the trademark Psychopaths either; deranged and comically exaggerated persons that have not mentally handled the zombie apocalypse well. In Dead Rising 3, these character personas are drawn from the seven deadly sins and make for some truly disturbed individuals; like a wrathful monk. The overall characterization tone of these psychopaths are more dark, but executed in more of a black comedy style that really meshes well with everything the franchise stands for. Apart from that, the game also simply plays similarly to past installments. You have two attack buttons, a dodge, multiple hand to hand moves, various brutal weapon executions, and more. Your weapons will still break, food items still heal your health blocks, and you€™re still going to have a blast. It€™s the same style of game, just unequivocally improved upon.
