Dead Space 3: 5 Reasons It's Awesome, 5 Reasons It Sucks

3. Crafting

Likely to be one of the most contentious and talked about elements of Dead Space 3, crafting is a well-intended though mixed offering; what's great about it is that it allows the player a lot of freedom to create weapons as they see fit. Throughout the game, you will pick up various parts and objects which can then be put into the crafting system to create new weapons with a variety of customisations and attachments, be it enhanced stasis use, a scope (which is rarely practical throughout the game) or the ability to change between firing modes at a moment's notice. Best of all is the opportunity to use additional upgrades such as fire, electrical and even acidic ammunition, making the killing all that much sweeter. Whether you'll like crafting or not depends on what you want out of the game; if you want a superlative rollercoaster ride, you'll probably dig it, but if you want a suspenseful experience more in line with the last two games, it might prove bothersome.
