Death Stranding: 21 WTF Moments You Need To See To Believe

7. The Two-Hour (!) Ending

Hideo Kojima has always been a fan of placing lengthy cutscenes in his games, which appeared to reach its peak with Metal Gear Solid 4's stunning 90-minute ending.

And though Metal Gear Solid V's bizarrely un-cinematic approach to its story disappointed many fans, it's safe to say that Death Stranding feels like a huge apology for that, dishing up hours and hours of cinematic story for the player to gorge on.

This culminates in an ending sequence that runs roughly two hours in length, starting from the moment you beat the final boss.

While much of the ending is actually interactive, that's still a staggering benchmark for the medium, and one which only Kojima himself is likely to top in the future.

It's shamelessly self-indulgent, for sure, but at the same time, isn't it incredible that Kojima was even given the freedom to do this?
