Death Stranding: 21 WTF Moments You Need To See To Believe

16. The Creepy Clifford Unger Boss Fights

Though Death Stranding doesn't feature much in the way of traditional boss fights, there are three surreal encounters the player has with Mads Mikkelsen's soldier character Clifford Unger (aka Combat Veteran) throughout the game.

In episodes 4, 7, and 11, Sam will get caught in a supercell storm and end up transported to Unger's "Beach" - an afterlife-like locale - resulting in the player having to track Unger and his men down, and then incapacitate Unger several times before the sequence ends.

The three chapters take place in World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War respectively, and despite the disappointing repetition of the gameplay within these sequences, the dread-filled atmosphere is up there with the pulse-racing terror of MGSV's Skulls.

While hardly challenging, these brief sorties provide a welcome - and hella creepy - change-up of the game's core formula.
