Remember how utterly useless sidearms used to be? Before Bungie decided to take matters into its own hands and make a boost to their performance, the weapon class boasted about as much stopping power as a peashooter, with shotguns and sniper rifles almost always taking priority in the Special slot.

As of now, the companion firearm to your primary is now widely used in the Crucible, due to its unique ability to hold ammo through death and subsequent respawn; a change that was made to curb the irritating prevalence of shotguns in competitive multiplayer.

Today, Destiny's PvP is arguably in a better place than it has ever been, but it shouldn't have taken so long to make it there. Bungie's past patches prove that it knows what needs to be done to keep the meta in check - they just need to keep a close and more proactive eye on the current state of affairs, lest it turn people off for good.
