Destiny 2: 10 Big Fixes & Improvements It Must Make
6. More Creative Gear
Besides the pitch-perfect combat system that makes up Destiny's core and continued appeal, one other feature that Bungie generally got right the first time around was its loot rarity system.
While decking your Guardian out in a full set of max Light legendary gear is an endgame goal not dissimilar to the large swathes of loot-chasing games that Destiny draws inspiration from, Bungie's addition of an extra layer, Exotic gear, added a fresh dynamic to the tried and tested formula.
Restricting players to only being able to equip one Exotic weapon and piece of gear at a time makes them feel special, but I'd love to see the concept expanded for Destiny 2.
Instead of having them drop as part of a lottery system or sold through a tentacle-faced vendor that shows up for just two days of the week, how about tying the lucrative items behind quests and other content? We've already seen the early workings of this by way of Sleeper Simulant and Outbreak Prime, but there's certainly room for the concept to grow.
Why not spin a yarn and tell a story with each one? The Khvostov Exotic quest included with Rise of Iron is a perfect example. More of that, please.
