8. Free Cross-Gen Upgrades
More and more publishers and developers are announcing free, cross-gen upgrades for their games when players inevitably upgrade to the next generation. That means any games that support it will allow you to take your content from your pre-existing console and take it across to your new shiny box.
Destiny 2 will follow that trend, allowing Guardians to transfer all of their characters, gear and previously owned expansions to the next generation when it becomes available. So if you do decide to upgrade your setup with the latest and greatest, there's no need to leave anything behind.
More importantly, you won't have to repay for the privilege of owning any of your previously purchased content. The only thing you'll have to consider is the purchase of future season passes or expansion packs on your console of choice. Anything you own now, you'll own on PS5 or Xbox Series X straight away, in glorious 4k and at 60FPS.
But what if you make the jump but the rest of your fireteam doesn't? According to Bungie, there will also be intergenerational cross-play allowing say a PS4 owner to play with a PS5 owner, with full cross-play across all systems coming soon.
