8. Dropped Engrams Correlate To Your Power Level

Another behind the scenes stat-crunch is what level an Engram will be when it drops. Which is to say, a nice shiny Engram (which doesn't reveal its contents until you talk to Tess at Eververse or the Cryptarch) might feel like it rewards you when you crack it open, but those contents were locked when it first dropped.

This means there's no real point to hoarding Engrams to decode en masse somewhere down the line. Although you could still get everything from a shader to weapons and armour, for the latter, their power level will be tied to whatever you were when the Engram dropped in the first place.

As you're always swapping your equipment every 20 minutes in Destiny anyway, chances are if you wait too long, that Engram from even half an hour ago is already worthless.
