Destiny 2: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
Downs
5. There's Still A TON Of "Go Here, Press Button, Repeat" Missions
Sadly, with so much content on offer in terms of main missions, items to find, dynamic multiplayer to beam into etc., FAR too much repeats one of Destiny 1's biggest complaints: Asking you to trigger a part of the environment to progress.
Many things like levers and switches don't even have animations, and across the majority of the campaign you'll be finding a specific item or ferrying another from one character to the next. There are even dialogue exchanges between characters that acknowledge the tedium of such mission structures, yet they're not upended with any key innovation, instead asking you to plod ahead and focus on the shooting.
Seriously, it can feel as basic as that sounds, as where Halo's trilogy gave you different mission-specific loadouts, vehicle sections and character-driven set-pieces to spice up the progression, the vast majority of Destiny 2 is predicated solely on holding the left trigger, and then the right, usually ending by holding a button to complete your objective.
