Destiny 2: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
1. Presentation Across The Board Is Exemplary
Nobody writes an operatic score like Bungie. And in fact, many times in some of Destiny 2's most intense moments, the combination of pounding tribal drums and background chanting taps back into that quintessential 'epic' feeling that made Halo so iconic.
Graphics too, are something to behold. This might not be on the same level as an Uncharted or a Horizon Zero Dawn when it comes to character models, but the worlds and - in particular - the skyboxes, are genuinely breathtaking. Many times a mission will take you from littered city streets to snow speckled mountaintops, or from dense jungles to underground, dilapidated caves dripping in moisture.
For the latter Bungie's lighting engine comes into its own, illuminating various details and showing off just how impressive their art department really are.
Destiny might boil down to being "all about the loot", but at least Bungie are a developer that can make exotic and rare pieces of gear look fantastic.
