Destiny 2 Beta: 7 Ups & 2 Downs
1. A Solid Move Away From 'Twitch Shooting'
By far the best feeling coming out of Destiny 2 is how much it doesn't mimic the repeated instant-death feel of COD and Battlefield.
Where both of those games devolved into exercises in who can unlock and equip the best quick-draw mods - reducing all encounters to holding the left trigger and then right trigger the fastest - we saw a move away from this in Overwatch, and now in Destiny 2.
Connoting Bungie's own Halo, coming up against an opponent gives you a good few seconds of interaction as the two of you engage in a dance of bullets, aerial dodges, headshots and melee-stabs.
It's a far cry from the "saw someone and died" feel that's prevalent across all military shooters, and harkens back to the glory days of Halo 2 and 3 - which is possibly the most positive thing I can say.
