For the first time in Quantic Dream history, the set-pieces and gameplay sections are actually fun to play.

Both Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls had a problem with mundane tasks and generally boring gameplay that made it hard to want to keep going, but Detroit actually fixes that by having some cool mechanics and set-pieces.

The new scanning mechanic for both Connor and Markus workd pretty well to highlight things to interact with and to break up the monotony of just constantly walking around. Connor's in particular acts like an advanced detective mode and makes his chapters the most fun in the game.

One of the best moments in the game features Connor chasing a deviant across a rooftop, which adds a sense of pace that was desperately missing beforehand. It's surprisingly responsive too, which makes the rest of the game's clumsiness seem really odd.
