9. Vergil and The Order
We are Nephilim. Probably one of the things I'm excited about the most is the return of Dante's twin brother, Vergil. In the original Devil May Cry series, Vergil is an antagonist in Devil May Cry 3 and a boss in Devil May Cry. Cold and calculated, Vergil was fast, smart and extremely deadly with his sword Yamato. Vergil was probably the most cunning of Dantes enemies and also the most compelling considering they are twin brothers after all. He eventually turned out to care for his brother in the end but was killed by Dante after the demon king Mundus enslaved him in the first Devil May Cry. However in DMC, we see Vergil as a much more caring and story driven character. From what is known so far, Vergil was adopted by a wealthy family when he was younger and lived a life of privilege (the complete opposite of Dante). He is a genius and developed a fortune from his skills which he has now put into the organization he calls "The Order". With the death of his adopted family, Vergil is bend on exposing the demons who are pulling the strings and to free the human race from their clutches. Being a Nephilim like Dante, Vergil has the skills and abilities to kill demons and avenge his family, how much of that will be explored is yet to be seen. As seen in the cut scenes he is extremely intelligent, strategic and skilled in combat with his sword Yamato. He has the traditional white hair, which is combed back, and dresses in a manner that showcases has fortune as well as his social class with his nice shoes and clean clothes. Just like n the original games, Vergil is the complete opposite of Dante in both looks, demeanor, attitude and over all appearance. One could even argue that Vergil is more angel where as Dante is more demon. I am very excited to see how Dante's and Vergil relationship turns out over the course of the game. It could honestly go anywhere, Vergil could become the cold calculated killer we knew or become a savior to the people. It is still to be determined. If you haven't yet pre-ordered the game yet, I would consider doing it now. A DLC called "Vergils Downfall" has been revealed and looks amazing. It focuses around Vergil and his hell. What that exactly means I am not sure. But what I can tell is that seeing Vergil in action looks stunning and just as much fun as playing as Dante.
