Doom 4: 10 Big Reasons It'll Be The Best Shooter Of 2016
5. Doom SnapMap
The Doom franchise has long been supported by a massive and passionate community of fans. Countless mods and custom levels have been created over the years and have extended the lifespan of the games well past their release, to which id Software has thankfully embraced. Their love for community content was made all the more apparent with the announcement of Doom SnapMap, a feature that will allow users to create, edit, and share their own levels and game modes. Such a mode is by no means new to video games, but SnapMap appears to offer a more in-depth level of customization than the competition. It also looks simple and easy to use, which should lower the barrier that so often keeps more casual gamers from creating their own content. Few video games offer such an elaborate focus on user-generated content, so this is a terrific addition. However, the downside is that Doom 4 wont support traditional modding. Its a disappointing loss for sure, but hopefully SnapMap will be a worthy replacement that allows gamers of all experience levels to be creative and, if it meets expectations, foster a large library of user created content that will keep people coming back.
