Doom 4: 10 Reasons It'll Be The Best Shooter Of 2016
The return of the King (of blowing your face off).
Chainsaws, plasma guns, bloodthirsty demons from another realm... it can only be Doom. This behemoth from the nineties was, and still is, widely praised for popularizing the first-person shooter genre. The amount of server crashes and decreased productivity on computer servers around the world during the mid-nineties was mostly thanks to its increasingly addictive and challenging game-play. Doom was a fast-paced experience, rife with deadly monsters, nasty traps and maze-like level design.
After a darker, slower and scarier Doom 3, and an unreleased botched sequel, Bethesda Studios scrapped it and have seemingly gone back to basics, with almost 100% of their emphasis on action, speed and violence. You know, just like the classic games in the series that, rather than being a developmental mess, entertained and offended in equal measure back in the day? Well, based on the trailers at least, the final product absolutely looks about as close to the spirit of Doom as you'd get in 2016. In short, it's jaw-dropping.
Can't wait to get your hands bloody? Or are you a little skeptical of how bombastic this reboot will be once it hits the consoles and PC in May? Read on and find out why the next trip to Hell will be brilliant.
