DOOM Eternal Vs DOOM 2016: Which Is Better?

You can't talk about a Doom game without talking about the many secrets in each level... unless you're talking about Doom 3. Doom 2016 brought this lovable trope back with force, hiding power-ups, collectible toys and even classic Doom levels in each stage of the game.

Unfortunately, while it was cool you could unlock a classic Doom level to play in the new engine, it help the fact that they didn't play very well.

Simply put, they weren't designed to fit the new three-dimensional Doom Slayer and enemies and it really showed. Sure, it was a valiant effort on the developers part but we can all agree that they didn't work. Eternal wanted to go more simple with their Easter eggs and secrets but simply nodding towards Doom Slayer's roots.

Throughout the game, you'll find subtle winks to Doom Slayer's own father, Commander Keen, who had his own game series back in the '90s. You can also collect records that can play various soundtracks in your Fortress of Doom, alongside building your toy collection.

However, the coolest thing you can collect is cheat codes that can affect your gameplay when revisiting old missions. This could include something simple like God Mode or Infinite Ammo, but you can also collect codes that turn blood into confetti and give you crowds that cheer when you nail each brutal kill.
