Dragon Age Inquisition: 16 Weird Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed

14. Cole's Film References

Dragon Age Inquisition
BioWare

Cole is a beloved character among the inner circle, both because of and in spite of his mysterious, mostly confusing commentary, which often comes with no context until much later in the story.

However, Cole's enigmatic comments aren't just limited to references to other characters in the game, or the secrets he's able to dig out of their heads with his spirit of Compassion powers.

Cole, in fact, breaks the fourth wall fairly often, sometimes greeting a visiting Inquisitor with strange commentary that reference popular films and other unrelated media.

Some examples include "It wasn't from a flower. He rode it in the snow." (Citizen Kane), "He didn't kill his father. He was his father." (Star Wars), and "It's made from people." (Soylent Green).

Interestingly, some lines also imply that Solas is aware of all these media, and has discussions with Cole about his references, presumably having watched modern films or broken the fourth wall in the Fade somehow.

It's always worth going back and forth to Cole's place just to hear and parse all his references. Not that you need any excuse to visit him - he's a sweetheart and worth talking to often.
