Dungeons And Dragons: 10 Abysmal Magical Items

9. Amulet Of The Planes

Adult Swim

As was previously stated, most magic items have a feature that can be useful in the correct circumstances; the problem is how frequent that problem occurs. The Amulet of the Planes has an incredibly powerful ability that it can activate without fear of breaking, but has a huge potential for negative consequences.

Amulet of the Planes allows you to make an Intelligence Check in order to cast the Plane Shift spell. Now an Intelligence Check, while not terribly difficult, presents a huge problem if you do fail the check.

In the event that you do fail this Intelligence Check, you and everyone within 15 feet of you is whisked away; not just the ones you had originally intended. Not only that, but there is a 40% chance that you won't even be taken your intended destination. Looking to travel to the Feywild to talk with some forest spirits? Oops, your Amulet sent you to the Nine Hells instead. When it comes to this item, you might just want to hold off until you can cast the spell all on your own.
