Dungeons And Dragons: 10 Abysmal Magical Items

5. Staff Of The Adder

Magic Staffs in the Dungeon Master's Book are incredibly potent items. Many of them come with a plethora of features. Several of them have charges that can be used to cast spells, saving your own resources or even giving you access to powers you may not even possess.

Keeping that in mind, The Staff of the Adder can transform into a poisonous snake. Yup. If your opponent fails a Saving Throw, on a single turn it will deal, on average, a whole 14 damage, half of which is poison. Those of you who play a good deal of Dungeons and Dragons will know that poison is one of the most often resisted damage types in the game.

Even better, it's a living thing now, which means that it can be attacked by enemies. With a paltry 20 hit points, the staff is destroyed if your little slithery buddy is killed.

Even better-er, the staff can only be used by Clerics, Druids or Warlocks. Oh hi there, Wizards and Sorcerers, arguably the two most popular staff-wielding classes, move along, this fella ain't for you.
