Dungeons And Dragons: 10 Abysmal Magical Items

6. Dust Of Dryness

One method of keeping some magic items in check is the Charge feature. Certain items have a finite number of charges that return over time, usually after sleeping or at daybreak. The Dust of Dryness offers no recovery method, and can be used, at most, ten times.

When you use the Dust, you can sprinkle a bit into a body of water, and capture a 15 foot cube's worth of water into the size of marble. So now you've got some water. What are you going to do with it? You can smash it against a hard surface to break the marble and let all the water out. Which means right off the bat, you have to argue with your Dungeon Master about whether or not that wording includes throwing it at an enemy if that's your intention.

Furthermore, it's one of those super fun magic items that uses a cube of liquid, of which will need to be defined at the table. Do any of you happen to know how much water is contained in a 15-foot cube of water? Of course you don't, you'd have to stop the game, Google it, and then determine what you can do with 117 gallons of water. It's roughly the size of a large home aquarium, if any of you were curious.

Oh, and using the dust in the hyper-specific capacity of attacking a Water Elemental does pretty good damage. You know, all those times you'll happen to have this specific item for this specific scenario.
