Dying Light 2: 10 Crucial Things It Must Improve
1. More Intuitive Combat
This is probably the entry that would require the most amount of effort on behalf of the developers.
Combat in Dying Light, while fun, was often wildly inconsistent. Sometimes zombies would go down in one hit, other times it would take multiple shots to the head with a weapon. The bow and arrow was worse, as it was not uncommon to see a zombie with 4 arrows in its head still ambling around as if nothing had changed.
This could be much improved, however, with more intuitive, targeted combat. The original dabbled in this, but it felt more luck based than anything. Essentially, where you aim at a zombie matters more. Shots to the legs slow them down, hits to the arm prevent them from grabbing you, and strikes to the head do the most damage, but also have an added mechanic where your weapon may take longer to remove, and therefore leave you more exposed.
Doing this would an extra layer to a relatively simplistic combat system. Suddenly, players must think more strategically, adding to the tension that made the original so great. Added in with targeted kicks, and the entire system feels much richer and more robust, providing a better experience overall.
Because at the end of the day, that's why we're all here: to kill some f&*#ing zombies.
