Dying Light 2: 10 Crucial Things It Must Improve
2. Revamp Stealth
It's hard to definitively state whether or not Dying Light actually had a stealth system. Outside of staying out of vision cones (only featured on the map) and using a fun but hilariously overpowered camouflage system, stealth was almost non-existent.
This should be introduced as a potential option for players. Firecrackers could be used as a diversion in Dying Light, but were largely inconsistent in execution. While the potential for murdering your way through a room packed to the rafters with zombies should be an option, players should also be given a chance to completely avoid this altogether, perhaps by some careful sneaking, using noise distractions, or finding an alternate route. This way a player is never forced into either a combat or stealth situation, and can play to their own strengths. Which downside is worse at the moment: the chance of dying or not gaining XP?
There were a few too many quests in Dying Light that locked players in an unclimbable room, then filled said room with wave after wave of biters. This takes away the freedom of choice, and makes the game less enjoyable. In games like Far Cry 5, players were given a vast open world, and multiple ways to explore and destroy it.
Something similar here could really crank up the quality.
