Dying Light 2: 10 Crucial Things It Must Improve
5. Increase Leveling Speed
Leveling in Dying Light, even when use XP boosters, is an incredibly arduous process.
Because of this, many of the games awesome skills are locked until you reach the end of the story and begin to run out of sidequests. Or, you know, when these awesome skills aren't particularly useful anymore.
Although the addition of New Game Plus did significantly improve this, there's no reason the leveling system should be so restrictive. It's one thing to not get every single skill in the tree until after the story, it's another to not obtain a grappling hook until you're 80% of the way through the main story.
Additionally, the skills need to be better redistributed. Advanced combat mechanics, such as improved damage on a heavy windmill attack, are one thing to only achieve later on, but jump kills, dropkicks, and the aforementioned grappling hook are so important to the flow of the game that it almost feels as though the player should start with those skills at the beginning, if not earning them within the first 10 hours or so.
It says something when the max level is 25, and most players can only expect to achieve this after multiple full playthroughs on New Game Plus. Better get to grinding!
