E3 2013: 5 Lessons We've Learned From That Hectic Week
2. Ubisoft Had A Damn Good Showing
Did you see the merry-making turned pirate chaos that was the E3 trailer of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag? You didn't? Well, take a gander here. Go ahead, I'll wait.
... ye done yet, lubber?
Although arguably on the same level with the equally impressive Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed IV is easily one of the more eagerly-awaited titles shown at E3. It's even more anticipated, considering Assassin's Creed III isn't exactly an old game - hints and rumors of Assassin's Creed IV were made public shortly after the confirmation of next-generation consoles.
Although Ubisoft had a plethora of other titles on display - Tom Clancy's The Division, a chaotic multiplater fragfest The Crew, and even the family friendly Rabbids Invasion, between the aforementioned Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, and the inevitable Just Dance 2014, Ubisoft stands primed to have a very successful fiscal year. Despite all this, I feel no shame in saying I'm still looking forward to South Park: The Stick of Truth, which Ubisoft received from the now-defunct T.H.Q., after the company's demise last year.
I wanted to find the Nagasaki trailer, but I'm not sure I could post that.
That being said, despite my love of South Park, and being thoroughly impressed by both the cinematic and gameplay trailers of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, I'm still eagerly anticipating Watch Dogs, the sandbox game headed our way which revolves around Aiden Pearce, the hacker/thug-turned-vigilante in a futuristic Chicago, who relies on a phone to manipulate his environment to his advantage.
Even considering the success of Sony, and the catch-up attempt by Microsoft, I would definitely say that Ubisoft left a favorable impression when they left the stage - they left gamers with a lot to look forward to. With no less than seven games on the horizon, Ubisoft stands primed to have a great year.
Although I wish they'd hurry up with The Stick of Truth.
