E3 2015: 10 Reasons Ghost Recon Wildlands Looks Incredible

Ghost Recon is back and better than ever.

Ghost Recon may not be the most famous line in the Tom Clancy series, but the franchise has always consistently impressed with its console excursions. Its key element has always been co-operative gameplay, but the franchise's storylines and characters have always been a big draw as well. It may not have as big a star factor as Sam Fisher, but playing with your buddies on Ghost Recon isn't easily matched by the other sagas that inhabit the Tom Clancy universe. As far as military shooters go, it's always aligned itself on the more realistic side of modern warfare. Simply running and gunning won't get you far, and Wildlands definitely doesn't look like it'll be an exception. The surprise announcement and footage shown at Ubisoft's conference easily wowed audiences with its promises of unlimited open world warfare and endless gameplay opportunities, and it's easy to see why. Modern military shooters haven't really strived for innovation for a while now, so it's particularly refreshing to see one go above and beyond to really make this latest experience worthwhile. Future Soldier strayed away from the realistic credentials the series was known for, but it looks as though Wildlands will return to form with this latest outing.
Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and the Golden Age of Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled.
