10. A Return To Tactical Gameplay
Ghost Recon has always had a steep learning curve, but that's just the way fans like it. Players are far more successful when they work together as a unit with different roles than if they charge in guns blazing with little care for their conduct, and while this was still the case for 2012's Future Soldier, the experience was sadly lacking in several areas. Despite having the rather stellar 'Gunsmith' system which gave players the ability to mould every aspect of their chosen firearm, Wildlands' predecessor felt far more Sci-Fi than military adventure, taking future warfare a little too far forward for many players' liking. Though it appears as if Wildlands is taking place within the Future Soldier continuity (the same Ghost Squad from that title are making their return), the footage shown really downplayed the more futuristic elements - highlighting more traditional methods of warfare than before. Whilst it may not be approaching ARMA's level of realism, it's still enough to make the experience feel truly authentic, making the title even more rewarding for the players that invest in it.
