All these elements and more come together to make Ghost Recon feel like an authentic product, but one that's still fun enough to play with friends. The Tom Clancy franchise serves as a perfect reminder that games don't have to be overtly arcade-y in order to be fun, and can even challenge players to think intellectually before they pull the trigger. What's great about Wildlands is that it finally allows Ubisoft to create the ultimate Ghost Recon game of their making. Whereas once they were bound by the constraints of previous gen consoles, now the team at Paris can really create a living breathing world - one that feels inhabited by both people and nature. It's all about nailing that aspect of waging war in an exotic location, and what better way to do so than to make every single last detail palatable to the eyes? Combined with a return of Future Soldier's 'Gunsmith' tool, Wildlands may very well be the most immersive military action title of the generation. Only time will tell if it's worthy of that moniker.
