10. Tim Soret Awkwardly Apologises For Anti-Feminist Tweets
Cyberpunk thriller The Last Night stole the show at Microsoft's conference, though it wasn't long before the game's designer, Tim Soret, was being raked over the coals for his past tweets where he sympathised with the GamerGate movement and purported to be anti-feminist.
So, in response, when Soret appeared on the PC Gaming Show the next day, he took a moment away from plugging the game to try and clear his name. Soret said, "Now, of course, I have some concerns I want to address. I am embarrassed by some tweets I made in the past. I want to apologise for those. They do not in any way represent where I am today, or what The Last Night will be about."
The response to Soret's apology has been incredibly mixed, some appreciating the possibility for people to change, while others see it as Soret merely trying to put out a PR s***storm before it kills the game's sales.
Either way, it was a mega-cringe moment, especially as presenter Sean “Day9” Plott totally no-sold the apology and went straight back to talking about the game.
