E3 2017: 6 Ups & 4 Downs From Bethesda's Conference
2. Creation Club Introduces Paid Mods For Skyrim & Fallout 4
Bethesda also took the risky move of announcing Creation Club for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition, essentially a paid mod program. The initiative allows players to purchase credits (with real money, that is) in order to buy mods created by Bethesda Game Studios and specifically approved partners.
The mods will include new weapons, armour, outfits, accessories and general gameplay enhancements, and because they're all officially signed-off by Bethesda, they will 100% work with the games.
Bethesda has claimed that the system isn't in fact paid mods, stating, "Mods will remain a free and open system where anyone can create and share what they'd like. Also, we won't allow any existing mods to be retrofitted into Creation Club, it must all be original content."
However, just because you aren't directly paying money for mods, but credits instead, doesn't mean you aren't essentially paying for mods.
