E3 2017: 6 Ups & 5 Downs From EA's Conference

2. Need For Speed: Payback Looks Ambitiously Cinematic

As sucky as that voice acting was, the actual core gameplay loop of Need for Speed: Payback's story mode looks rather innovative, at least for the (admittedly low) standards of the franchise.

The game is clearly trying to ape the hilariously over-the-top vehicular carnage of the Fast and the Furious movies, with players being tasked with performing feats of stunt-driving that are seamlessly integrated with cinematic cut-scenes.

Though it remains to be seen how diverse this will feel over an hours-long campaign, it's a unique idea, and with its abundance of gorgeous slow-mo crashes, certainly evokes the Burnout games in a good way.
