It's a regular complaint of E3 viewers that EA devotes a disproportionate amount of time to talking about sports games, because while it's surely an effort to please their shareholders, these games will sell like hotcakes year-in and year-out without taking up tons of precious time at a conference that could serve as a platform for more innovative and creative titles.

Madden, FIFA and NBA Live's 2018 iterations all received glossy glimpses, and though it was a little more restrained compared to, say, Pele's infamous appearance at E3 2015, the sports segments still served as a glorified toilet break for many.
