E3 2017: 7 Reasons Sony Must Release A New PSP
3. PlayStation Now Could Be Bundled In
The subscription fee model to access games has taken off fairly well after an initial slow start. EA's Access programme, Xbox One's Games with Gold, PlayStation's awkwardkly-named Instant Game Collection... there's plenty of options and appetites for regular digital games delivery.
A new PSP could go the extra mile and offer rental/streaming service PlayStation Now for on-the-go gaming - for free. A great USP - especially against competitor Nintendo who's yet to fully develop their beloved Virtual Console on Switch, which is always a big draw for consumers.
Sadly, the PlayStation Now service is actually due to end by August 2017, which means support will end for PS3, PSVita, Bravia TVs and Blu-Ray Players and other devices besides.
Could it be resuscitated and re-purposed for a new PSP? Stranger things have happened.
