E3 2017: 8 Ups & 7 Downs From Microsoft's Conference
4. Nobody Cares About 4K Minecraft
Mojang announced that they are going to be unifying the VR, Windows 10, Pocket Edition, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch editions of Minecraft, which in a surprise move means that there will be cross-platform play between Microsoft and Nintendo platforms.
As cool as that is, it was hard to be much interested in the segment's main announcement, that Minecraft is getting a "Super Duper Graphics Pack" which will update the game with 4K graphics.
As enthusiastic as Phil Spencer tried to sound about it, it was hard not to laugh at the idea of anyone being stoked about Minecraft's intentionally low-fi, blocky visuals getting a new lick of paint.
