We already know that the game will be coming to us sometime early next year, but giving a full release date is when people really start to get hyped up.

A lot of new gameplay from Days Gone has recently been shown off and, even though it looks like it needs optimising, it definitely looks like a promising game.

The backlash against it is something that Sony need to start fighting against, and giving it even a little bit of stage time at E3 might be enough to do that.

Comments from Bend Studio seem to indicate that they've got a release date lined up already but aren't quite ready to reveal it. With E3 being the best place to show off upcoming releases, showing a new trailer and giving a release date for Days Gone might be enough to get people excited all over again.
