E3 2018: 15 Best Moments
3. The Last Of Us Part II's First Gameplay Promises Strong Emotions & Violence
Perhaps the most buzzed-about gameplay reveal on social media was that of The Last of Us Part II, which opened Sony's conference and basically brought E3 to a standstill.
The stunning footage began with an insanely well-rendered flashback cut-scene of Ellie dancing with and kissing her love interest Dina, before we return to the brutal present of Ellie's grim existence today.
While traversing a rainy forest, Ellie is forced to kill several armed assailants, using a variety of weapons in unflinchingly violent fashion no less.
Though there was some post-conference hand-wringing about the "exploitative" nature of the violence and questions about whether we were truly viewing a representative glimpse of the final game, it was hard not to be bowled over by Naughty Dog's typically meticulous approach to, well, everything.
Needless to say, it's sure to send the PS4 out on a high note, and it's incredibly likely we'll be seeing a remastered edition released for the PS5 also (as happened with its predecessor).
