E3 2018: 15 Best Moments
2. Microsoft Takes Bold Steps For The Future
Microsoft has been on the back foot for this entire generation, following the disastrous unveiling of the Xbox One and a failure in recent years to catch up to Sony's astonishing market lead.
At E3, however, they made it abundantly clear that they've effectively conceded this generation to Sony and are instead making aggressive plans to win gamers back for the next cycle of consoles.
Not only was the next Xbox console actually vaguely mentioned by Xbox boss Phil Spencer, but he announced that Microsoft had acquired four studios as first-party studios, and had also created a fifth original first-party studio called The Initiative.
It's incredibly likely that these studios are working on titles to release either for the launch of the next Xbox console or shortly thereafter.
Considering the most prominent criticism of the Xbox One ecosystem has been the disappointing lack of exclusives, this should ensure their new platform doesn't suffer the same fate, and that's something to be very excited about.
