It's widely anticipated that Square Enix will reveal their long-gestating Avengers-themed project during their conference, and the most recent word suggests the game may in fact be a reboot of the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance action RPG franchise.

The leak originated from 4chan and referred to the game as "Avengers: Ultimate Alliance", while deeming it a God of War-level reboot, where it re-purposes the brand name for a whole new gameplay experience.

The "reassemble" tagline from the first teaser trailer was apparently intended to hint at the series' resurrection. Furthermore, the leaker claims the game will focus on Captain America, Iron Man, and Scarlet Witch, with the core team being divided after a catastrophe.

There are numerous playable characters - more than just this trio - and the gameplay is "a mix between Uncharted and Infamous", while the game will also exist in the same universe as Insomniac's Spider-Man game and other unannounced Marvel projects.

How Likely Is It?: It all sounds incredibly believable, especially as Activision no longer owns the rights to Ultimate Alliance and it doesn't conflict with previous reports about the game adopting a "Games as a Service" model.
